Precious Promises

God has given you 7,487 "exceedingly great and precious promises..." II Pt. 1:4

Here's a few just for you.

My “I’ve-Heard-From-God” Checklist

_____ DOES THIS AGREE WITH SCRIPTURE?
God’s voice never contradicts His Word. He wouldn’t tell you to marry an unbeliever since His Word clearly says that we should not be “unequally yoked.” God’s voice always agrees with His Word.

_____ I HAVE SUBMITTED THIS TO MY PASTOR AND/OR SPIRITUAL LEADERS.
We’re your pastor, not your master, but if a major decision is involved, let us guide you. God anoints pastors to guide and guard his people.

_____ DO YOU HAVE AN INNER WITNESS?
The Holy Spirit has moved into every believer and speaks on God’s behalf. Romans 8:16 calls it an “inner witness.” I describe it as your “knower.” In your deepest being, there is a knowing of the things of God. Did God really speak to you? That inner witness will cause you to know, that you know, that you know.

_____ WOULD JESUS DO THIS?
Since He is our example, think about His life while on earth. Would Jesus do whatever you think this voice told you to do? What about your spiritual hero? Can you see them obeying that voice that you heard?

_____ DO YOU HAVE PEACE IN YOUR SPIRIT?
You can have complete peace in your spirit, while your mind is screaming crazy thoughts. Quite often, obedience to God makes absolutely no sense to the natural way of thinking. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” Pr. 3:5

_____ WOULD A LOVING FATHER REQUIRE THIS?
God is a loving Father and His voice will reflect that. I would question any voice that separates families (emotionally), is self-destructive or demanding.

_____ HAVE YOU RECEIVED A CONFIRMATION?
A confirmation is when God says the same exact thing in a different way. Mt. 18:16 If you’re not positive that you’ve heard from the Lord, especially if it’s something quite important, ask Him to confirm His voice and He will; perhaps through a person, a scripture or unusual circumstance.

_____ ARE YOU WILLING TO WAIT FOR GOD’S TIMING?
You can do the right thing at the wrong time and really struggle. People tend to jump too soon, but God’s timing is perfect.
