Old Testament — sins atoned (covered, but still existed)
New Testament — sins remitted (not just pardoned; deleted) - Unbeliever
Lives under the weight of their guilt and regrets.

- Man’s Perspective About Your Past
- God forgives, but consequences might remain. (crimes, divorce…)
- God forgets, but people usually don’t.
- Restitution is sometimes appropriate.
- Fix what you can and move forward. Ph. 3:13
- Renew Your Mind
- Agree with what God says about those who are “in Christ.”
- The Word straightens out our thinking, now get in line with it.
- Train your brain as you would reprogram a computer. Rom. 12:2
- Condemnation
- Satan’s response to your sin; past or present
- Tormenting, nagging, reoccurring thoughts
- Makes you feel worthless and hopeless
- Picture a hammer
- Rom. 8:1 — quote it to the devil often
- Conviction
- The Holy Spirit’s response to your present sin
- Gentle, reoccurring promptings to do or not do something
- Makes you feel sad about your sin
- Picture a heart shaped magnet
- Quit remembering what God has forgotten.
- When the devil reminds you of your past, remind him of his future.
- Your past is past.
- When God looks at you, all He sees is the Blood of Jesus.
- God does not consult your past to determine your future.
