Man is a Triune Being
1. Spirit, Soul, Body I Th. 5:23
2. Each part has a separate and distinct function.
3. The spirit connects to God.
4. The mind connects with the intellectual world.
5. The body (flesh) connects with the physical world.
The Spirit of Man
1. Created in God’s image to be an associate and companion of Father God. Ge. 1:26-27 I Co. 1:9
2. A.K.A. our inward man, hidden man, inner man Rom. 7:22, II Co. 4:16, I Pt. 3:4, Eph. 3:16, I Co. 2:11
3. Your recreated spirit or human spirit I Co. 2:11
4. Different from the Holy Spirit II Co. 6:16
5. The real ‘you’ which will live forever in heaven
The Soul of Man
1. Your mind, will, and emotions
2. A computer that needs to be reprogrammed Rm 12:1
3. Spirit and soul are two different entities. Hb. 4:12, 12:23
4. The mind is the battlefield, determining whether to join spirit or flesh. II Co. 10:3-5
5. Without a renewed mind, your mind will agree with your body.
6. With a renewed mind, your mind will agree with your spirit. Pr. 16:3 Amp, Ph. 4:6-9
The Body of Man
1. Your physical body is fearfully and wonderfully made. Ps. 139:14
2. Your body is not ‘you.’ The real ‘you’ lives inside of your physical body.
3. An earthsuit or Paul refers to it as a tent.
4. “Flesh” is the invisible, evil influence who, like an old lover, keeps calling. Rom. 7:14
5. To crucify your flesh is to say “no” to thoughts and actions contrary to the Word. Rom. 12:1, Ga. 2:20
